Nurses support our forward-thinking apporach by participating in innovative research studies that advance the delivery of care. They are involved in conducting randomized clinical drug trials, clinical data tracking and review studies, and in committees, staff meetings and other staff activities. Our state-of-the-art facilities and equipment complement our commitment to quality care.
A COMMITMENT TO STAFF SUPPORT AND CONTINOUS LEARNING
Extensive orientation, tuition assistance, in-house training and employee assistance and wellness programs are available to support nurses and all staff so that they can deliver the best possible care in the communities in which the live and work. Nurses may apply for educational allowances form RVHS, as well as the RNAO, to take advantage of external learning opportunities such as master's degree or PhD training, or to attend medical conferences. In addition, on-site educational opportunities inculde Ryerson's BScN degree program and the McMaster Leadership Program. Our nurses can also benefit from regular professional development offered by our clinical practice leaders, corporate partners and / or external experts.
TOP NOTCH ORIENTATION.
New nurses at Rouge Valley complete a three-to eight-week, individually tailored orientation program that familiarizes them with the hospital, their dpartment, nursing procedures, protocols and computer systems. Once in a specific unit, they can exercise their full scope of practice and experience much vairety in their day-to-day activities.
Nurses may work in a diverse range of settings, including our patient care departments, ER, ICU, cardiac catheterization lab, same-day units and out-patient clinics. And, as they enhance their clinical abilities and professional qualifications, they can advance to leadership roles such as charge nurse, resource nurse, unit co-ordinator, clinical practice leader, nurse practitioner or clinical manager. At the same time, we reward our nurses’ many contributions and commitment to our patients and our hospital system through special award ceremonies, and monthly employee recognition by our Board of Directors.
