Reporting to the Manager of Telecommunications, the Telecommunications Service Representative is responsible for switchboard and locating functions, overhead paging, dispatching support service tasks (when Resource Centre is closed) and other clerical duties as assigned.
Minimum grade 12 education or equivalent.
Previous hospital switchboard experience, using Meridian, including voicemail system.
Clear and understandable telephone voice.
Accurate data entry and keyboarding skills, to department standard 40 WPM (typing test will be administered).
Proven computer skills including Word, Excel, Outlook and the Internet with the ability to perform computer searches for information.
Proven excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Demonstrated ability able to remain calm in emergency or stressful situations.
Good command of the English language.
Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.
Demonstrated ability to interact compassionately and calmly with patients, visitors and hospital staff in a professional manner.
Ability to work independently & be self-directed in a busy environment.
Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Rouge Valley's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.
Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public.
Prolonged sitting, bending, reaching, lifting up to 19 lbs.
Ability to type for an extended period of time.
