Reporting to the Manager, Outpatient and Corporate Rehabilitation Services the Occupational Therapist will be responsible for patients with surgical conditions in an inpatient setting. The Occupational therapist will establish linkages and collaborative working relationships with inpatient multidisciplinary teams including complex continuing care and rehabilitation and outpatient teams to improve the patient flow and continuum of care across the hospital. The Occupational Therapist will also be responsible for patients with hand injuries in outpatient settings including the outpatient rehab department and the fracture clinic. Other duties as assigned.
Registered and in good standing with College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy
Minimum 1 year experience in an acute care adult health setting preferably in surgery
Experience working with patients with complex hand injuries
Strong problem solving skills
Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations
Ability to delegate tasks to Occupational Therapy Assistants/Physiotherapy Assistants as appropriate
Excellent assessment, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community
Demonstration of strong group leadership skills
Ability to collaborate with interprofessional healthcare teams to create an interdisciplinary plan of care and a coordinated and appropriate discharge plan
Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound judgement
Ability to perform the essential duties of the position and experience in evidence-based approach to service delivery.
Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Rouge Valley's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.
Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public.
Demonstrated pattern of good attendance
