The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering patient care in a multidisciplinary patient-centred care environment. This position assists the Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist with direct patient care activities such as implementing exercise programs, facilitating activities of daily living and mobilizing patients as assigned. As part of the Corporate Rehabilitation Services, the PTA/OTA may be required to work in other areas and perform additional duties for RVHS as needed.
Completion of Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist Assistant diploma/certificate program
Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, psychological sciences
Demonstrated ability to be self-directed and apply critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills
Demonstrated ability to apply modalities safely and appropriately
Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations
Demonstrated good communication, documentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community
Ability to collaborate with interprofessional healthcare teams and involving team members in patient treatment as required
Physically able to meet the demands of a busy area including lifting, bending, reaching and standing for extended periods
Demonstrated pattern of good attendance
Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Rouge Valley's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and willingness to participate in regular in-service education in this area.
Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public
Certification in BCLS is recommended
