The Clinical Practice Leader (CPL) acts as a resource in the interpretation and application of the CNO practice standards, and will be current on the regulatory requirements, trends and changes impacting the nursing profession.  The CPL will work in collaboration with other health team members to develop, implement, evaluate and monitor: nurse sensitive patient outcomes; nursing practice processes, policies and procedures as well as clinical competencies and directives. The incumbent will provide consultation on surgical initiatives that impact professional nursing practice and patient care as well as supporting the development of new and existing nursing staff through the corporate orientation program and professional practice calendar. Reporting to the Director of Professional Practice and working closely with clinical programs and the interdisciplinary team, the Clinical Practice Leader is responsible to strengthen professional practice and advance the achievement of RVHS vision of ‘Being the Best at what we do’.

  • REQUIREMENTS:

    Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario

    MScN preferred

    Minimum 5 years perioperative nursing experience

    Strong mentoring and leadership skills

    Demonstrated ability to teach and evaluate nursing staff

    Experience with committee and project work

    Experience with project development, implementation and evaluation

    Experience with developing policies and procedures and learning packages for both staff and patients

    Excellent oral, written and presentation skills

    Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively with all team members

    Intermediate computer skills, including word including Microsoft word, power point and excel.

    Competency in Information and Communication Technology (Internet, Intranet, outlook) 

    Demonstrated pattern of good attendance

    Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Rouge Valley's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.

    Must demonstrate a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public

    ASSETS:

    Critical Care, and in-patient surgical experience

    Experience with the implementation and sustainment of quality improvement initiatives using LEAN methodology
