Mandate

The primary purpose of the Community Advisory Group is to make sure that RVHS understands the needs and viewpoints of the community.

Here are the key activities of advisory group's mandate:

  • Bring forward community views on health care needs and issues;

  • Help communicate to Rouge Valley's diverse communities;

  • Provide advice and feedback on current issues that Rouge Valley faces; and

  • Help encourage health decision-makers to support local health needs.

Membership

RVHS serves the diverse communities of east Toronto, Pickering, Ajax and Whitby. It is important for the advisory group to reflect the many different backgrounds and experiences of the residents in these communities.

The 12-member body includes:

  • 9 community members (one of whom is the vice-chair);

  • 2 members from the RVHS Board of Directors (one of whom is the chair); and

  • 1 ex-officio member of the RVHS Foundation Board of Directors.

All members live within the RVHS catchment area so that they are truly able to connect with the community and the local health issues.

Meetings

The Community Advisory Group meets quarterly.
