About these reports

In 2010, the Government passed the Broader Public Sector Accountability Act (Bill 168), which includes a requirement for hospitals to publicly report any expense claims made by hospital executives and board members, semi-annually, starting November 30, 2011.  This same legislation requires public reporting on the use of consultants by hospitals annually, starting June 30, 2012. RVHS has voluntarily elected to report on consultant use semi-annually, starting November 30, 2011.

Our hospital has absolutely embraced the public disclosure requirements in this legislation. We believe that it is one of the ways to promote public confidence in hospital management of taxpayer money, and consistent with one of Rouge Valley's corporate values, which is to be accountable for our resources, our services and our bevaviours.

Our policies

RVHS has comprehensive policies in place that govern expense reimbursements, which include one level up approval, and policies around the use of consultants. These policies are consistent with best practices, support a strong internal control environment, and promote accountability and transparency in the stewardship of public funds in accordance with Bill 168 and the Broader Public Sector Supply Chain Guidelines.

The key RVHS policies that pertain to these disclosure requirements are as follows.
