PES develops both regular reports (e.g. corporate scorecard, physician scorecard, department dashboards and indicator reports) and special reports to support strategic initiatives. PES also provides consultative services to functional units on data collection and analysis, supports responding to external information requests and plays a key role in the development of the annual Quality Improvement Plan.

The Director of Performance Evaluation Services (PES) is a critical player in this dynamic strategy. As a senior leader in the organization and with a high corporate profile, the Director oversees a group of highly-skilled staff who extract and analyze data from hospital information systems to support decision making by managers, directors, vice presidents, physician leaders, the CEO, and the Board. The Director provides analytical insight into hospital impacts associated with the Ministry of Health’s Health System funding reform initiatives and the director   is a member and expert resource for a number of internal hospital committees and external LHIN committees.


  • Master’s degree in Health Administration, Business, Informatics or other relevant discipline preferred

  • Experience with Hospital Datasets and Tools (DAD, NACRS, WTIS, DART, NRCC patient satisfaction surveys, etc.) and funding models (e.g. Pay For Results, HBAM, QBP)

  • Experience with statistical analysis and various evaluation and reporting methods  

  • Demonstrated experience with electronic and manual information management practices

  • Experience with Lean methodologies and principles

  • Minimum 5 years’ management experience with the ability to manage financial and human resources

  • Demonstrated excellent coaching skills, problem solving and analytical skills

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a collaborative team

  • Superior verbal and written communication skills including the ability to display and explain complex statistics in an easily understood, user-friendly manner

  • Strong presentation skills and comfort level presenting to audiences at various levels in the organization

  • Understanding of Business Intelligence (BI) systems

  • Proficient with the use of Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and commonly used hospital analytical programs

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education in this area.
