Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Clinical Systems Analyst and Supervisor of Meditech Operations will be responsible for supporting front-line staff and managers to access information and application functionality that they need in order to deliver better care to our patients. The successful candidate will also supervise the daily operations of the Meditech system. On a daily basis the candidate will interact with end-user, respond to and coordinate the completion of change requests, author reports based on user requests using advanced reporting tools, monitor and troubleshoot the operation of interfaces, and assist users to utilize the capabilities of existing and new features of the hospital’s Meditech system; coordinate the Meditech system upgrades including configuring and testing of existing and new functionalities. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting all modules of the Hospital’s Meditech System, including making functional enhancements; troubleshooting; responsible for coordination of Meditech change requests; participate in the implementation of new clinical applications, analyze user data reporting requirements and prepare ad-hoc reports; identify opportunities that can improve efficiency of clinical processes involving Meditech; troubleshoot technical issues and identify modifications needed in existing applications to meet changing user requirements; analyze data contained in clinical and corporate databases and identify data integrity issues with existing and proposed systems and implement solutions; provide assistance and advice to clinical users in the effective use of the Meditech system and information technology; write technical notes and documentation for new and existing applications; assist in the creation of the system design and functional specifications for new development projects, assure that client requests are responded in timely and professional manner and actions meet client expectations; provide clinical applications training to audiences that include physicians, technicians, managers, and clerical staff; utilize reports and other benchmarking tools to evaluate the performance of Meditech operations, collaborate with Clinical Informatics Specialists and Clinical Practice Leaders in clinical module implementations; participate in clinical initiatives within areas of responsibility; coordinate the Meditech system upgrades including configuring and testing of existing and new functionalities; comply with hospital expectations regarding ethical behavior and standards of conduct; comply with provincial and hospital guidelines related to the protection of health information and patient privacy (eg FIPPA); performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor degree or recognized equivalent in Computer Science, Health Informatics, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering or related field required
5+ years health care industry experience in a hospital setting
Experience in hospital data and reporting
Strong knowledge of Meditech and knowledge of B/AR
Strong knowledge of end-user hospital processes
Experience with HL7 health information exchange standard and interface development
Programming skills and in particular ability to use scripting and reporting languages to create data reports. Good working knowledge of SQL is expected
Project planning, management and implementation experience
Advanced problem solving and analytical skills
Thorough knowledge of the systems development lifecycle and processes
Understanding of testing and software quality assurance
Knowledge of the healthcare domain, trends and standards
Technical troubleshooting skills
Solid training as a business and applications analyst. Knowledge of UML is desired
Experience with workflow and business process modeling methodologies and tools
Ability to interact with all levels of staff
Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
Able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Excellent interpersonal and communications skills both written and verbal
Exposure to Lean principles, an understanding of methodologies and tools and a commitment to the use of these in support of providing the best healthcare experience possible to our patients
Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Rouge Valley's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, and environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area
Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public.
