As part of our new Strategic Plan‐on‐a‐Page and commitment to continuous improvement, the Hospital will provide all of its staff and physicians with the knowledge, tools, and support required to lead the industry in defining and delivering the best healthcare experience.

Rouge Valley is committed to the deployment of Lean thinking as the fundamental philosophy underpinning our transformation efforts.  Reporting to the Manager of Complex Continuing Care, the Registered Practical Nurse provides patient care.  Working alongside Personal Support Workers the duties include personal care, vital signs, physical assessment, administration of meds, IV monitoring, other patient care duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

    • Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse

    • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification based on the Ontario Heart and Stroke Standards

    • Certification in Medication from a recognized institution

    • Current adult medical / surgical experience

    • Physical Assessment and Asepsis course from a recognized institution

    • Current related experience in rehabilitation nursing in neurology, respiratory and orthopaedics

    • Strong problem solving skills

    • Self-motivated with demonstrated ability to manage a busy and varied caseload

    • Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations

    • Excellent communication, documentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community

    • Demonstrated physical ability to perform nursing and related duties

    • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Rouge Valley's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.

    • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public.

    • Exposure to Lean principles, an understanding of methodologies and tools and a commitment to the use of these in support of providing the best healthcare experience possible to our patients

    • Demonstrated pattern of good attendance
