Rouge Valley is gaining a reputation in the health care industry for our innovative and sustained approach to the enterprise‐wide deployment of Lean thinking as the fundamental philosophy underpinning our transformation efforts. As part of our new Strategic Plan‐on‐a‐Page and commitment to continuous improvement, the Hospital will provide all of its staff and physicians with the knowledge, tools, and support required to lead the industry in defining and delivering the best healthcare experience.

The Registered Nurse on Coronary Care Unit employs a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care, utilizing the skills of physicians, specialized critical care nurses with solid backgrounds in coronary care, venipuncture, defibrillation and operating theatre scrub experience.  A number of other professionals including registered respiratory therapists, dietitians, social workers and chaplains support this program. The Rouge Valley Coronary Care Unit also has access to consultation with a clinical bioethicist. Trained staff are also part of the hospital Code Response Team.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario

  • Competent to perform CPR at a Basic Cardiac Life Support level

  • Current certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

  • Coronary Care Certificate or equivalent experience

  • Certification in I.V. Therapy or prepared to successfully obtain in-house certification within 3 months of hire

  • Cardiac Nursing experience (minimum 1 year)

  • Health Assessment course or equivalent experience

  • Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community

  • Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound judgement

  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position

  • Demonstrated pattern of good attendance and work record

  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Rouge Valley's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.

  • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public.

  • Exposure to Lean principles, an understanding of methodologies and tools and a commitment to the use of these in support of providing the best healthcare experience possible to our patients
