Working from the Centenary site, you will report to Manager of the NICU. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning implementation and evaluating nursing care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary family centred care environment. Patient caseload includes premature and newborn acute and critically ill infants in our Level II NICU. Responsibilities will also include attending high risk deliveries and code pink resuscitation situations.


  • Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario

  • Competent to perform CPR at a Basic Cardiac Life Support level

  • Current completion of the George Brown College Perinatal Intensive Care Nursing Certificate or equivalent education within one year of hire

  • Health Assessment Course and or equivalent education

  • Current certifications in Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP), and Breastfeeding Resource Certification or equivalent certification

  • Minimum of 2 years current Level II NICU experience

  • Demonstrated clinical problem solving skills and ability to apply neonatal knowledge, skills and judgement

  • Demonstrated proficiency in dealing with cultural diversities and caring for families in crisis, including bereavement

  • Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations

  • Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community

  • Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound clinical judgement

  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position

  • Demonstrated pattern of good attendance and work record
