The Cardiac Program is currently recruiting a full-time Nurse Practitioner (NP) for the Cardiology Care Services. The incumbent will have cross site responsibilities and will report directly to the Director, Cardiac Care Program and work closely with the physicians, Managers, Clinical Practice Leader, and staff of the Cardiac Program.
As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the incumbent will focus on improving clinical outcomes and standards of care for cardiac patients, through advanced practice nursing, program planning and delivery, policy and resource materials development, consultation, research, education, efficient resource utilization and effective leadership.
Nurse Practitioner, extended class registration (RN-Extended Class) Adult.
Current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario
Masters degree preferred
Competent to perform CPR at a Basic Cardiac Life Support level
ACLS is required
Eligible for a cross-appointment with an academic institution
Current or recent NP experience
Minimum 5 years experience in Cardiology nursing
Minimum 3 years experience in treating and educating patients regarding cardiovascular health
Working knowledge of LEAN framework and methodology preferred
Experience in program planning and implementation an asset
Commitment to the quality of care of our patients, evidence based practice, and a clear understanding of professional standards
Demonstrated ability to provide professional practice leadership, to challenge and motivate others and to provide adaptive clinical care sensitive to cultural and ethno racial diversity
Knowledgeable and committed to promoting healthy work environments
Ability to manage change and to foster an environment which promotes shared governance and accountability
Research knowledge and skills with the ability to foster same in others, and commitment to enhancing academic endeavours/involvement for self and staff
Evidence of sound organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to work well in stressful situations
Excellent communication, negotiation, teaching and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, all levels of staff and the community
Ability to work well independently and to exercise sound judgement
Promotes and encourages professional development in self and others
Uses and understands organizational decision making tools which included workload, productivity, patient data, quality of data and governmental reports.
Ability to perform the essential duties of the position
Demonstrated pattern of good attendance and work record
Computer skills should include competency with word, Excel, Power Point, Meditech
