As part of our new Strategic Plan‐on‐a‐Page and commitment to continuous improvement, the Hospital will provide all of its staff and physicians with the knowledge, tools, and support required to lead the industry in defining and delivering the best healthcare experience.
Reporting to the Manager of Operating Room, Day Surgery, PACU & CPD, the Unit Coordinator is responsible for the overall quality of service in the surgical suite, including coordination of patient care, deployment of nursing staff, effective & efficient resource utilization, facilitation of patient flow, liaison with linking areas (e.g. PACU, Day Surgery, inpatient units), maintaining data accountability and stewardship in the surgical suite.
REQUIREMENTS:

RN with CNO, BCLS, and Operating Room Nursing certificates required. BScN & ACLS preferred

Competent to perform CPR at a Basic Cardiac Life Support level

Minimum 5 years recent operating room experience in addition to experience in linked areas

Minimum of 2 – 3 years of operating room Charge Nurse experience

Demonstrated leadership, co-ordinating skills, teaching and technical ability

Demonstrated experience participation in change projects using LEAN tools ( kaizen events, leading bullet rounds, Kamishibai, 6 S’s)

Demonstrated ability to positively contribute and lead change in a high pressure environment, facilitating cooperation and able to defuse conflict situations effectively

Evidence of sound organizational / prioritization skills, including a energetic, confident and resourceful attitude, with the motivation to deliver results in a complex and demanding environment

Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work well with patients, families, surgeons, all levels of staff and the community

Ability to work well independently and to exercise well developed critical thinking skills

Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to RVHS comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety

Evidence of commitment to personal development and continuing education

Demonstrated commitment to customer service with patients, surgeons, colleagues, volunteers

Ability to perform the essential duties of the position
