As part of our new Strategic Plan‐on‐a‐Page and commitment to continuous improvement, the Hospital will provide all of its staff and physicians with the knowledge, tools, and support required to lead the industry in defining and delivering the best healthcare experience.

Rouge Valley is committed to the deployment of Lean thinking as the fundamental philosophy underpinning our transformation efforts.  Reporting to the Manager of Health Information Management, the Health Information Management Specialist is responsible for coding and abstracting all Hospital Inpatient, Day Surgery, Emergency and Outpatient visits, and other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Successful completion of a CHIMA recognized HIM program and CCHIM certification, and be a member in good standing with CHIMA

  • Two (2) years previous experience in ICD10CA/CCI coding and WINRECS electronic abstracting

  • Previous experience in processing medico/legal release of information

  • Strong Communication, Interpersonal and  presentation skills

  • Computer experience/background.

  • Exposure to Lean principles, an understanding of methodologies and tools and a commitment to the use of these in support of providing the best healthcare experience possible to our patients

  • Demonstrates an understanding of and comSmitment to Rouge Valley's comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety and participates in regular in-service education in this area.

  • Demonstrates a commitment to customer service when dealing with patients, colleagues, volunteers and other members of the community and public.

  • Demonstrated pattern of good attendance

  • Exposure to Lean principles, an understanding of methodologies and tools and a commitment to the use of these in support of providing the best healthcare experience possible to our patients
