Strategic Plan PDF Print E-mail

Here is our new strategic plan, which will guide us over the next three years (until 2014). We thank all stakeholders who have participated in the development of this plan, and we look forward to continuing to work towards being the best at what we do.

Background

What is a strategic plan?

A strategic plan spells out where an organization wants to go, how it’s going to get there, and helps us decide how and where to allocate resources. It ensures that we are providing the services the community needs in the most efficient and cost-effective way, and that we are aligned with the vision for the delivery of health care throughout the region, as defined by the Central East Local Health Integration Network (CE LHIN).

Our strategic planning process

Rouge Valley Health System’s previous strategic plan, launched in February 2008, has completed its three-year cycle. The new strategic plan consultation process started in May of 2010 and was approved the RVHS Board of Directors in February 2011. In between, the hospital has been consulting, interviewing, receiving online and paper survey results from staff, physicians, volunteers, community organizations, other health care partners and political leaders at municipal and provincial levels, and from the public.

We’ve been busy!

RVHS started soliciting stakeholder feedback for the new strategic plan in May 2010. Information has been presented in community outreach presentations and online surveys emailed to some 360 community organizations, including service clubs, churches and municipal government councils in Durham and Toronto. All other internal and external corporate communications vehicles, including our public blog and surveymonkey, were also used to inform and receive ideas toward the development of the new strategic plan. External online surveys, focus group discussions and interviews with political leaders were also conducted.

Announcements have been made and feedback received through a news release and a few blogs on our RVHS Blog, plus the RVHS Facebook page. Working drafts of the plan in development have been shared at internal meetings of staff, physicians and volunteers, and externally at community outreach meetings and RVHS Board meetings, which are open to the public.
