Visiting Hours

Standard visiting hours and rules

Rouge Valley's standard visiting hours are from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

In order to ensure patient recovery and safety, we ask that there be no more than two visitors at a time please. In our emergency departments, only one visitor per patient is allowed.

In special circumstances, visitors can make arrangements at the nursing station to obtain a visitor's pass to stay after 9 p.m.

Please note that some areas of the hospital have special visiting hours, including labour and delivery, paediatrics, mental health, complex continuing care, intensive care units (ICU) and coronary care unit (CCU). Staff will communicate the specific visiting hours to visitors in these areas.

Please see our news release for further background on our visiting hours.

Parking at Rouge Valley Centenary

Parking is available in the north, south and emergency lots on an automated, self-serve pay system. Our rates are comparable to those at other area hospitals and revenues are an important source of funds to purchase site equipment.

Parking tickets, dispensed by a machine upon entering the lot, need to be taken into the hospital and paid at time of leaving, at machines found inside the main entrance of The Court, Margaret Birch Wing and Emergency. After payment, the validated ticket is inserted into a machine at the parking lot exit in order to lift the gate.

The Day Surgery drop off and pick up are located at the east entrance (Outpatients Department).

Reduced Rate Parking Passes: All-day, two-week and monthly passes are available for purchase Monday through Friday, 8:30-4:30, at special rates at the Cashier's Office in the Main Lobby.

Gifts for Patients

Many visitors bring small gifts when they visit someone in the hospital. Plants or flowers are the traditional gift, but things like books, magazines, crossword puzzles, books on tape, hand cream or framed photos are also popular gifts. Bringing a box of chocolates or other food is generally not a good idea, as patients are often on restricted diets as part of their care.

At Rouge Valley, latex balloons are banned because of the risk of infants choking on them and the prevalence of latex allergies. To help combat the problem, only Mylar balloons are allowed to be delivered to the health centre. Visitors should check with their florist before ordering.

Struggling to think of exactly the right gift? Talk to the volunteers at gift shops, which carry a full range of gifts, fresh flowers, clothing (from infant to adult), jewelry, stationery, reading material, candy, cosmetics, lingerie, gift baskets, fruit baskets, greeting cards, nursing bras, gowns, and more.
